What is Aromatherapy?

Header Therapy

Vaporizers are used around the world for aromatherapy. It is a practice that has been around for centuries which as technology has developed we have been able to bring it into our homes and our lifestyles. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy today.

Our Vaporizers are the best on the market and it only makes sense for us to talk a bit about aromatherapy and give you an introduction to its practice.

You did come to our site, so let us get you started with the basic knowledge of what it’s all about.

First things first, we are not professional Aromatherapists so for any aromatherapy advice we suggest to consult a medical professional or a qualified Aromatherapist. We are just sharing our own knowledge and experience with you. So lets get started…

Aromatherapy has become a ‘buzzword’ these days, often used in marketing messages to sell cosmetics and mainstream body care products.

However, this has nothing to do with the science of aromatherapy and the therapeutic work and advice of a qualified Aromatherapist.

Ancient Aromatherapy

The use of aromatherapy goes back to thousands of years as it was very commonly used by the ancient civilisations of China, India and Egypt for example.

We don’t have to go too far from home to find another example of its presence. Australian Aboriginal communities have been using the natural healing properties of plants for approximately 40,000 years. They have always relied on their surroundings for survival and healing.

During my recent visit to the Far North Queensland Mossman Gorge Centre, Rob, our tour guide joked that the rainforest is their pharmacy, as well as their supermarket … and hardware store.

Aboriginal communities have been using Tea Tree for its healing properties and use various plant saps for their antiseptic qualities.

Native Australian plants such as several varieties of Eucalyptus, Sandalwood, Wattle, Honey Myrtle, Lemon Myrtle and Fragonia just to mention a few, have been used for thousands of years by Aboriginal tribes.

Modern Aromatherapy

Modern aromatherapy was born in France when chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattenfosse suffered a burn to his hand in an accident in his laboratory. He discovered the healing qualities of lavender by treating his burns with essential oil.

His work was picked up by French army surgeon, Jean Valnet, who extended the use of essential oils from burns to treat wounds of soldiers.

As a matter of fact, Lemon and Thyme essential oils were used for sterilization of surgical equipment up until World War 2.

Natural plant extracts (essential oils) enter the body during inhalation or through the skin.

Vaporizing Aromatherapy

Inhalation is what VapeFuse is about as vaporizers are designed for this, however we also believe in the benefits of applying essential oils through the skin in the forms of massage or water treatments.

With a vaporizer you can vaporize dried plant materials, or essential oils to name the two most common methods.

Consult a qualified Aromatherapist for specific advice on what plants you could use for your aromatherapy sessions.

We carry a variety of top quality herbal vaporizers that are designed to extract the natural extracts from plants, so it can be fused into the room or inhaled directly with a whip or from a balloon.

Please feel free to browse our store for a huge range of vaporizers or check out our Vaporizer Buying Guide to help you to decide.
