Arizer Extreme Q Maintenance

How to Clean your Arizer Extreme Q Vaporizer Banner

The Arizer Extreme Q is a hugely popular vaporizer and there is no wonder why. It is an affordable dual vape that is reliable and has been around long enough for people to know that it lasts for a long time.

Having said that, just like anything else that heats up organic materials, chambers, and glass parts to 100 or even over 200 Celsius (your oven is the closest example), it needs cleaning every now and then.

The more you look after it, the longer your unit will last.

Vaporizing herbs such as Eucalyptus, Chamomile Flower and Lemon Balm, and most herbs in general will produce resin when vaporized. This material makes your vaporizer look ‘old’ and dirty and it can also clog up your screens, making your vaporizer work harder and become less effective.

We ran the below experiment with Chamomile, however most herbs produce very similar signs of use and require pretty much the same maintenance.

Let’s look into what you can do to look after your Extreme Q, so it can look after you for a long time to come.

Preparing to Clean Your Unit

I won’t waste time explaining to you to unplug your machine every time you do any kind of maintenance, I presume you are aware of the dangers with electricity.

I’m sure you are also aware that hot glass parts WILL break if you expose them to cold water, so always clean your machine when it’s unplugged and has cooled down.

You will need a cleaning cloth to wipe the outside of the unit every now and then to keep it fresh.

Next, turn the unit upside down above a sink and gently shake it back and forth. This helps to loosen and remove any debris that may have fallen into the unit.

Cleaning your Cyclone Bowl or Tuff Bowl regularly is highly recommended, so it remains clean (after every few vaporizing sessions preferably).

Even giving it a wipe with a paper towel helps, but because not much resin accumulates on the bowl itself, it needs little more cleaning attention.

If you do leave it for a while and some resin starts to show, you will need some:

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Paper towels
  • Q-Tips

Use these to clean your bowl to get it looking like new again (kind of new… as there are going to be some discolorations on the bowl that you won’t be able to clean even if you soak it. If this discoloration bothers you, you can always replace the bowl).

Cyclone Bowl

After several vaporizing sessions, resin starts to show up in the cyclone bowl:

It will get significantly cleaner after a very good wipe with some paper towels:

And then quite a lot of the remaining resin can be removed by using rubbing alcohol:

Elbow Adapter & Whip

The glass elbow adapter and the mini whip (if you use the balloon function) or the whip (if you use the whip function) will get more resin build up because the hot air and vapor flows through those parts directly.

Elbow Adapter and Whip

You would not want to leave it long before you clean your elbow adapter.

In this demonstration where we show you how it affects the dome screen, we used this adapter over and over again without cleaning it.

Dome Screen

As you can see the dome screen gets blocked by the resin and it restricts the flow of vapor through it, affecting the efficiency of the machine.

The dome screen is probably the part that needs to be replaced most often, as that is the screen that the hot vapor is flowing through and gets the most resin build up.

Tubes

Apart from that, you will need to change your mini whip and/or whip as the tube gets discolored in use after a while, as you can see on the picture of the mini whip above.

With the tubing we don’t recommend using ‘rubbing alcohol because it does discolor it further and may leave a bad smell and taste behind.

Clean the tubes with warm clean water and change them as they discolor to keep your machine looking good and well maintained.

Balloons

The other thing is the balloon of course, by the time we managed to get the above screen discolored, the balloon looked ‘dirty as well:

The glass mouthpiece is hard to clean if it gets to this level, however your kit does come with two mouthpieces and replacements are inexpensive if you do need new ones.

That’s it! It really does not take long to look after your Extreme Q and cleaning it regularly will ensure you get to enjoy it for many years to come!
